ACMT is a professional association of physicians who are Board Certified in Medical Toxicology. Since its inception in 1993, ACMT has worked to advance the practice of medical toxicology and advocates for the care of toxicologic patients and individuals with substance use disorders.

The Partnership to Amend 42 CFR Part 2 issued a statement in response to the introduction of identical bipartisan bills in both the House and Senate. The Overdose Prevention and Patient Safety Act, “OPPS Act”, was introduced by Congressmen Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) and the Protecting Jessica Grubb’s Legacy Act, “Legacy Act”, was introduced by Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Joe Manchin (D-WV).

The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) sent a letter to licensure boards in support of the provision of CARA that extends buprenorphine prescribing authority to NPs and PAs and asks for this information to be clearly communicated to licensed clinicians in the state.

Today, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued their Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Parity Action Plan. Congress included a provision in Section 13002 of the 21st Century Cutes Act requiring HHS to create this Action Plan detailing recent and planned actions from the Departments of HHS, Labor, and Treasury related to ongoing implementation of the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA).
