ASAM Supports SAMHSA’s Proposed Harm Reduction Framework

ASAM recently joined several organizations in a sign-on letter applauding the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) proposed harm reduction framework designed to better integrate such strategies throughout the agency's policies and programming. In the letter, advocates' recommendations included centering people who use drugs (PWUD) with lived experience, engaging with other federal agencies, ensuring adequate funding, supporting community-based harm reduction programs, responding to community needs, and enforcing the legal rights of PWUD.
