American Society of Addiciton Medicine

ASAM History though Photos and Illustrations

Historical Research Associates, Inc., (HRA) has partnered with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) to write the society’s history. HRA’s team is building on the many wonderful materials gathered and historical narratives drafted by past and present members. We are asking members to look through their personal collections for materials that HRA may use to illustrate ASAM’s history in a forthcoming e-book. Potential illustrations include but are not limited to:

  • photographs of members, staff, or supporters
  • photographs taken at ASAM events or significant places
  • cartoons or drawings
  • photographs of memorabilia
  • brochures, awards, tickets, programs, or other ephemera.

HRA and ASAM assume that in submitting illustrations, you are granting permission for their reproduction in ASAM’s e-book. Please provide information describing the people, dates, or other identifying information associated with the illustration. If submitting illustrations by email, be sure to save the images as .jpg or .tiff files at a minimum of 600 dpi. Most scanners will give you the option to adjust image’s specifications. You can verify an image’s specifications using the “Show Inspector” tool in Preview on Mac computers or by right clicking on an image on a PC and selecting “Properties.” If you have items you would like to share, please email them to lhausealvarado@asam.org or mail them to:
