ASAM Criteria Has New Editor-in-Chief
The ASAM Criteria® has a new Editor-in-Chief, Corey Waller, MD, MS, DFASAM, FACEP. The ASAM Criteria, the most widely used and comprehensive set of guidelines for addiction treatment, improves patient outcomes by establishing a continuum of care that reflects the modern understanding of addiction as a chronic disease. As a patient’s condition improves or worsens, they move along the continuum of care to the level most appropriate for their needs. Treatment based on The ASAM Criteria is associated with less morbidity, better client functioning, and more efficient service utilization than mismatched treatment.
As ASAM Criteria Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Waller will help with the revision of The ASAM Criteria, Third Edition by leading the development and execution of a process for reviewing data from real-world implementations of The ASAM Criteria and working with the editorial team to make empirically-driven revisions of The ASAM Criteria text.
