The American College of Medical Toxicology Joins the Fight to Stop Opioid Overdose

Rockville, MD (May 4, 2018) – The Coalition to Stop Opioid Overdose (CSOO) is pleased to welcome the American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT) as a new member of the coalition. ACMT is a professional association of physicians who are Board Certified in Medical Toxicology. Since its inception in 1993, ACMT has worked to advance the practice of medical toxicology and advocates for the care of toxicologic patients and individuals with substance use disorders.

 

“We are ecstatic to have the American College of Medical Toxicology join the coalition,” said Dr. Corey Waller, Chair of the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s (ASAM) Legislative Advocacy Committee. “ACMT and their members work on the front lines providing clinical services to individuals living with addiction involving opioids. Their expertise will be critical to enact the legislative changes needed to stem the tide of the opioid addiction epidemic and we look forward to working with them.”
