ASAM Joins 20+ Medical Organizations to Oppose Anti-DEI Programs in Medical Schools

ASAM joined 20+ medical organizations to express opposition to any legislation that would bar medical schools from receiving federal funding, including participation in guaranteed student loan programs, if they engage in activities such as having a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) office and/or provide education on structural or institutional racism. This letter follows the bicameral introduction of the Embracing anti-Discrimination, Unbiased Curricula, and Advancing Truth in Education (EDUCATE) Act which would cut off federal funding for medical schools in these cases.
