ASAM encourages you to use your voice, expertise, and knowledge to increase addiction prevention, treatment, remission, and recovery through volunteer opportunities. Here you will find opportunities to serve on ASAM’s councils, committees, subcommittees as well as task force groups. Terms of service can be short or long-term depending on the charge of the group.
Peruse the list of open opportunities listed below. If you are interested in joining, please click on the opportunity and complete the instructions. Opportunities will be posted throughout the year so come back often to see what is available. ASAM Committees and Councils are comprised of members only. Subcommittees, Writing Committees, and Task Forces may be comprised of members and non-members.
Call for Applications - Behavioral Addiction Editors
ASAM is seeking experts in behavioral addictions (eg, problem gambling, internet/social media addiction, problem gaming, compulsive sex, pornography addiction, and food addition) to serve as Editors for the Fourth Edition of The ASAM Criteria®, Behavioral Addictions Volume. The Behavioral Addictions Volume of the Fourth Edition of The ASAM Criteria will propose principles for managing behavioral addiction and how the addiction treatment system can be organized to serve patients with these conditions.

Call for Applications – National Practice Guideline for the Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder
ASAM is seeking experts to participate in the update of its National Practice Guideline for the Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder (NPG). As part of this effort, ASAM will also be convening a task force to consider how the update to the NPG can better address health disparities in the delivery of evidence-based care for OUD. Individuals can apply either to serve on the Guideline Committee, Health Disparities Task Force, or both.
