ASAM Calls for Full-Year LHHS Funding Bill

ASAM and fellow healthcare organizations with the Mental Health Liaison Group are urging House and Senate appropriations leaders to pass a full-year Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (LHHS) bill for Fiscal Year 2026. A robust funding bill would support the programs and research conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A full-year appropriations bill would provide these agencies with predictable funding for initiatives that address the mental health and substance use disorder crises in America.
