ASAM, in Coalition with Other Organizations, Urges Congress to Increase Program Funding to Strengthen the Addiction Service Workforce

On March 23rd, ASAM and dozens of organizations sent a letter to the U.S. House and Senate Chairs and Ranking Members of the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies of the U.S. House and Senate Appropriations Committees recommending increased funding for programs to strengthen the addiction service workforce in Fiscal Year 2024. The ten programs detailed in the letter allow for the prevention and treatment of addiction and the provision of harm reduction and recovery support services under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
