ASAM Applauds Appointment of Kimberly Johnson, PhD to Serve as Director of Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) within SAMHSA

CHEVY CHASE, MD – The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) applauds last weeks announcement that Kimberly Johnson, PhD has been appointed to serve as the next Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) within the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
“ASAM has worked with Dr. Johnson and the national office that coordinates the Addiction Technology Transfer Center’s (ATTC) for a number of years,” said ASAM President Dr. Jeffrey Goldsmith. “Now as Director of CSAT, we look forward to her leadership and to the expansion of innovative and effective substance use disorder treatment services, programs and practices.”
Under Dr. Johnson's leadership, the national office of the Addiction Technology Transfer Centers (ATTC) is sponsoring a symposium at this April 14-17 in Baltimore, MD. The ASAM 47th Annual Conference is the largest gathering of addiction physicians, psychiatrists, clinicians, researchers and academicians who treat and help patients with substance use disorders.
ASAM looks forward to further partnering with Dr. Johnson and SAMSHA in her new role.
