American Society of Addiction Medicine Announces New EVP/CEO
(Rockville, MD) - The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) proudly announces the appointment of Julia L. Chang, MBA, MS as the organization’s new EVP/CEO beginning May 27, 2020. She will succeed Penny S. Mills, MBA who is retiring after 10 years of dedicated and transformative leadership to ASAM.
“Julia Chang is the right leader for ASAM,” said ASAM President Dr. Paul Earley. “Her science and consulting background combined with her most recent association expertise make her an excellent fit for ASAM’s current and future needs.”
Julia L. Chang MBA, MS is currently the Executive Vice President of the science and quality division at the American College of Cardiology (ACC). She brings over 20 years of association management and corporate business experience. During her career, she led her division to become the largest and most profitable area at ACC. Her scope included overseeing educational events, publishing over 50 observational research articles annually, updating over 30 clinical guidelines, launching 10 mobile apps for clinicians, and expanding hospitals participation in clinical registries and accreditation.
Prior to ACC, Julia spent over 5 years as a senior management consultant with IBM’s Strategy & Change Practice division where she managed high-visibility strategy and business planning projects, leading teams of consultants in marketing, sales, and R&D.
