American Society of Addiciton Medicine

ASAM has expanded our training portfolio to support training needs for The ASAM Criteria, including ASAM-created courses and updating our licensing framework to partner with designated trainers and independently licensed trainers.

An updated ASAM Criteria Foundations course releases in January 2024 and includes content from the Fourth Edition and incorporates an opportunity for participants to practice applying the information through case-based activities. More ASAM courses are in development.

Designated TrainerTo support public demand for training on The ASAM Criteria Third and Fourth editions, ASAM has partnered with the ASAM Criteria ® Designated Training Organizations listed below.

All trainers from designated training organizations, which includes teachers, faculty, facilitators, discussion leaders, presenters, speakers, subject matter experts and other equivalent titles, are required to complete ASAM’s educational courses.

Training will be available live in-person, live webinar, and on-demand.
