COSAM Sends Letters of Support for Three Legislative Priorities

On February 8th, the Colorado Society of Addiction Medicine (COSAM) sent letters of support for three bills (SB24-022, SB24-047, and SB24-048) ahead of scheduled hearings before three committees in the Colorado Senate.

SB24-022 would allow county commissioners enhanced regulatory authority over tobacco and nicotine products. Specifically, it would allow county commissioners to prohibit the distribution of flavored tobacco. Meanwhile, SB24-047 dedicates funds to various measures for the prevention of substance misuse and substance use disorder (SUD) throughout the state. Finally, SB24-048 invests in programs to support individuals in recovery. Taken together, COSAM praised these three bills as important measures to enhance the state’s response to the overdose epidemic and support residents.
