Ruth Fox Memorial Endowment Fund

Founder, American Society of Addiction Medicine
Overview: The Ruth Fox Memorial Endowment Fund was established in 1990, on the 35th Anniversary of the founding of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and as a living tribute to the Founding President, Ruth Fox, M.D. (1895-1989)
Goal: $10,000,000
Raised to date: $4,537,893 (pledges and gifts)
Purpose of the Endowment enables the Society to carry forward activities aimed at achieving its mission: Specialty Board Certification, physician education, research, access to quality treatment for all who suffer from the diseases of addiction, and adequate medical insurance coverage for all.
Endowment Funds: are maintained in an account separate from the Society's annual operating account, and are placed in conservative investments, in keeping with the Board's policy to keep the principal intact while using interest earnings to support the Society's educational programs, as approved by the Board.
Contributions to the Endowment Fund may be made in various ways: Cash, appreciated stocks or bonds; life insurance; bequests; trust fund; retirement fund; memorial tribute; pledges may be paid over five years.

Each year, presentations are made at the Ruth Fox Donor Reception during the Society's Annual Med-Sci Conference (by invitation only). All donors receive an invitation to the reception.

Ruth Fox Scholarships
Through the Endowment Fund, four to six Ruth Fox Scholarships are awarded to physicians-in-training to attend ASAM's Medical-Scientific Conference and Ruth Fox Course, all expenses paid. We have awarded over fifty-five scholarships to date.
