ASAM is dedicated to advocating for a future when addiction prevention, treatment, remission, and recovery are readily accessible, profoundly improving the wellbeing of all people.
Overview
We work closely with lawmakers on Capitol Hill and leaders in the Administration to advance policies that promote a stronger addiction treatment workforce, standardize and modernize the delivery of individualized addiction treatment, and ensure equitable access and coverage for comprehensive, high-quality addiction care for all people. ASAM’s Legislative Advocacy Committee (LAC) oversees ASAM’s government relations program and its activities including organizing legislative days on Capitol Hill for ASAM members, conducting Congressional briefings, and engaging in grasstops and grassroots advocacy.
