ASAM Announces 2019 Board of Directors

Rockville, MD (April 25, 2019) - The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) proudly announces its new Board of Directors for the 2019-2021 term.  “As the nation battles to overcome the devastating impact of today’s addiction epidemic, reliable and innovative guidance from the medical community is needed more than ever.” said Paul Earley, MD, DFASAM, president of ASAM. “ASAM’s Board of Directors represents the leading physicians in addiction medicine with the medical experience and scientific knowledge necessary to guide the nation during this medical health crisis.”

The newly elected and appointed members* of the Board of Directors officially began their terms during the ASAM 50th Annual Conference on April 7, 2019 in Orlando, FL.  Here is the current ASAM Board of Directors:

ASAM invites applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief of The ASAM Criteria

The ASAM Criteria® is the most widely used set of guidelines for placement, continued stay and transfer/discharge of patients with addiction and co-occurring conditions. The ongoing advances in the addiction medicine field and lessons learned from real-world implementations of The ASAM Criteria call for more regular updates to these guidelines.

The Editor-in-Chief is expected to participate in the development and execution of a process for reviewing data from real-world implementations of the ASAM Criteria, including the ASAM CONTINUUM Software, and working with the editorial team to make empirically-driven revisions of the ASAM Criteria text.
