The ASAM Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder Course

The ASAM Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder Course curriculum covers all medications and treatments of opioid use disorder and provides eight hours of education needed to obtain the waiver to prescribe buprenorphine. ASAM offers this 8-hour course in a blended format combining online and live learning. The first half of the course is administered online through 4 hours of independent self-paced learning. The second half of the course is delivered by recognized national experts in a 4-hour interactive and engaging face-to-face classroom setting. ASAM is an approved provider by CSAT/SAMHSA of DATA 2000 training. 


This course is separate from The ASAM Review Course and is not included in the Full Course registration. All attendees must register in advance or on-site. Additional fees apply. 


The CO*RE/ASAM Pain Management and Opioids: Balancing Risks and Benefits

This course, formerly known as The CO*RE/ASAM Opioid Prescribing: Safe Practice, Changing Lives, reviews safe prescribing habits and examines the difference between extended release/long acting and short acting medications to help ensure patient safety and effective pain management.  It will also cover the CDC guidelines and includes a special section on addiction medicine.  Participants, live and remote, must complete the course assessment and evaluation to claim credit.
