The ASAM Annual Conference Program Planning Committee will recognize the primary authors of high scoring and exceptional posters abstracts with the following four awards:

  • ASAM Abstract Submission Award: Best Overall
    This award is presented to the primary author of highest scoring submitted abstract.
  • ASAM Abstract Submission Award: Young Investigator
    This award is presented to a poster's primary author who is within five years of the completion of a medical residency or receipt of a doctoral degree (eg, MD, PhD, DSc, etc.). A primary author who fits this category should indicate so on the abstract form.
  • ASAM Abstract Submission Award: Resident
    This award is presented to a poster’s primary author who is currently enrolled in a medical residency program. A primary author who fits this category should indicate so on the abstract form.
  • ASAM Abstract Submission Award: Fellow
    This award is presented to a poster’s primary author who is currently enrolled in a medical fellowship program. A primary author who fits this category should indicate so on the abstract form.
These awards will made on the basis of new ideas or findings of importance to the field of addiction medicine, their methodology and clarity of presentation, as judged by the Committee. The ASAM Annual Conference Program Planning Committee will select "Honorable Mentions" in categories where there are multiple exceptional submissions.
