Position Summary:

The Learning Management System Administrator leads the creation and maintenance of educational activity product and education program pages in ASAM’s learning management system (LMS). This position collaborates with the leadership team and project leads to publish and manage educational content in the LMS, while ensuring consistency and creating standard processes across all educational products.


  • Develop and implement protocols and standards for product creation in the LMS to ensure consistency, ease of use of the LMS (for both course developers and for learners), and adherence to accreditation requirements
  • Perform LMS administrative functions, including the creation of educational activities and management of user enrollments, program pages, registration, security permissions, and integration with third-party tools
  • Implement quality assurance testing procedures to ensure functionality and consistency across educational offerings
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to the LMS independently or by escalating to the vendor and develop innovative solutions to improve the usability and user experience
  • Generate usage reports periodically and provides staff training related to the use of the LMS across the organization
  • Develop a system for logically categorizing and tagging content to ensure that all content in the LMS is easily searchable and allows users to intuitively navigate to the specific content of interest to them
  • Conduct routine audits on learning content within the LMS to ensure performance, quality assurance, and compliance with established standards
  • Establish protocols to enhance and extend accessibility of the LMS and the learning content it hosts for all learners
  • Manage the contract and vendor relationships with the LMS provider and other partner organizations
  • Collaborate with the LMS vendor to facilitate technology integration, maintenance, and implementation of updates/upgrades
  • Create reports on enrollment, usage, progress and completion rates, and other relevant metrics to better understand learner needs, drive system utilization, improve user experience, and inform future educational initiatives
  • Create and deliver periodic staff training on using the LMS through workshops, online materials, one-on-one training sessions, and job aids
  • Periodically, seek input from stakeholders on ways to improve workflow processes and learner experience in the LMS
  • Proactively make recommendations for improvements to content management, workflow processes, and learner experience in the LMS
  • Assist in the development and management of the LMS budget
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects within the team and other administrative tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Technology, and/or a related field
  • 2+ years of learning management systems administration experience required
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree desired in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Technology, and/or a related field desired
  • Experience with educational software and platforms, including the acquisition and implementation of new systems desired
  • 2+ years of experience working with membership databases and conference applications
  • Basic understanding of design principles and ability to apply best practices in user interface and user experience design

  • Excellent organizational skills, including setting priorities in work assignments, managing projects, and following up on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively prioritize work on multiple projects and tasks.
  • Good collaboration skills with the ability to interact effectively, efficiently, and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient with LMS and other e-learning technology.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, and creativity are valued.
  • Team player with a positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and ability to have fun with team members.

  • Meetings Director, Professional Development Director, Chief Learning Officer, and other members of the ASAM team, as needed.
