Biography - Ken Roy, MD, DLFAPA, DFASAM


A. Kenison Roy, III, MD (Ken), is currently the Program Director of the Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program at Tulane Medical School in the Department of Psychiatry. Most recently he served as the Chief Medical Officer of Avenues Recovery Residential Treatment Program in the New Orleans area and is proudly the founder and Chief Medical Officer of the former Addiction Recovery Resources, a physician directed multi-level addiction treatment and longitudinal addiction care system in the private sector in Metairie, LA (New Orleans area). He is founder and previous Medical Director of the Dual Diagnosis Detoxification Unit at River Oaks Hospital in Harahan, LA, and founder of the Division of Addiction Medicine at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, LA. He has had a successful adult addiction and psychiatric practice for over 25 years.

He is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Tulane and LSU Schools of Medicine, a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (DFASAM). He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, The American Board of Preventive Medicine in Addiction Medicine and the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He is a member of ASAM, the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, The American College of Psychiatrists, the American Medical Association, the Louisiana State Medical Society and the Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association (LPMA) and is a Past President of LPMA. He has long held leadership positions in ASAM and is currently a member of the Board of Directors representing Region VII.
