Manager, Membership and Chapter Relations

Position Title: Manager, Membership and Chapter Relations

Reports To: Vice-president of Marketing, Membership and Engagement

Status: Exempt

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for membership recruitment and retention as well as Chapter relations, development and compliance.


Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Manages membership renewal, retention and recruitment strategies.
  • Manages Chapter relations, management, development and growth.
  • Works with staff to develop, implement, and monitor programs to increase membership, retain members and increase member satisfaction.
  • Develops and provides tools and resources to Chapters to ensure adherence to National policies.
  • Reconciles National and Chapter membership activity in AMS to balance with accounting general ledger on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensures accuracy of member database.
  • Coordinates and disseminates disbursement of dues and reports to the Chapters.
  • Serves as staff liaison to Chapters Council and Membership Committee.
  • Maintains Membership and Chapter sections of website.
  • Contributes content to ASAM’s newsletter.
  • Staffs exhibit booth at trade shows as needed (may include travel).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have at least 2 years of experience working in association membership and chapter relations.
  • Must be proficient with Association Management Systems (MemberSuite a plus).
  • Must have advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel and experience with Word and Outlook.
  • Must be available for evening conference calls and some weekend work.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience working with medical associations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Sitefinity or other content management system is helpful.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to efficiently handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Ability to convey concepts and convene meetings using Microsoft PowerPoint and personal presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively, efficiently and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written, organizational, communication and customer service skills are required.
  • Resourcefulness and creativity valued.
  • Team player with positive attitude, enthusiastic energy and ability to have fun with team members.

Recruiting salary range: $52,000 to $57,000 (with a robust benefits package)
