Position Summary:

The Learning Management System Administrator is responsible for ASAM’s learning management system (LMS) including content maintenance, user experience, budgeting, data reporting, and vendor and team liaising. This position collaborates with the leadership team and project leads to address evolving learner needs while ensuring consistency, ease of use (for both course developers and for learners), adherence to accreditation requirements, and observance of industry standards.


Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Develop and implement protocols for LMS maintenance to ensure consistency, ease of use (for both course developers and for learners), adherence to accreditation requirements, and observance of industry standards.
  • Develop, implement, and/or update guidelines for courses and LMS landing pages.
  • Work with marketing team to implement a plan for marketing LMS content and increasing learner engagement.
  • Ensure courses are reviewed in a timely manner, assist during high volume periods, create templates, and lead launches of new signature programs.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to the LMS independently or by escalating to the vendor(s) and develop innovative solutions to improve the usability and user experience
  • Create regular reports on enrollment, usage, completion, revenue, and other relevant metrics to support financial or grant needs, meet accreditation requirements, improve user engagement, and inform future educational initiatives.
  • Provide general staff training related to the use of the LMS across the organization and specialized staff training for others on the education team.
  • Maintain and update system for categorizing and tagging content to ensure that all content in the LMS is easily searchable and allows users to intuitively navigate to the specific content of interest to them.
  • Conduct routine audits on learning content within the LMS to ensure performance, quality assurance, and compliance with established standards
  • Establish protocols to enhance and extend accessibility of the LMS for learners of all abilities.
  • Manage the vendor relationships with the LMS provider and ensure contract and invoice accuracy.
  • Drive the collaboration with the LMS vendor and other ASAM staff to facilitate technology integration, maintenance, and implementation of updates/upgrades.
  • Proactively make recommendations for improvements to content management, workflow processes, and learner experience in the LMS.
  • Lead the development and management of the LMS budget.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects within the team and other administrative tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of experience with online educational software, systems, or platforms
  • Knowledge of HTML

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree desired in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Technology, and/or a related field
  • 2+ years of learning management systems administration experience
  • 2+ years of experience working with membership databases and conference applications
  • Knowledge of UX design principles and experience applying best practices

  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to self-direct, setting priorities in work assignments, leading projects, and executing projects with minimal direction.
  • Ability to prioritize work efficiently and effectively on multiple projects and tasks.
  • Good collaboration skills with the ability to interact effectively, efficiently, and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient with LMS and other e-learning technology.
  • Exceptional with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, and creativity are valued.
  • Team player with a positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and ability to have fun with team members.

  • Director and Vice President of Professional Development, Senior Director of Learning Innovations, and other members of the ASAM team.
  • Vendors and/or contractors
