About Us

Shawn Ryan, MD, MBA, FASAM

Candidate for Region IV Director

Biography and Statement

1. What are your greatest contributions to ASAM and the field of addiction medicine?

I have served ASAM and Chair of both Payer Relations and Legislative Advocacy over the past 6 years. Through those positions we have made significant strides in reimbursement as well as legislation that will support our field for years to come.

2. How would your election benefit ASAM and the field of addiction medicine?

It would allow me to continue serving the field of addiction medicine, specifically in the Midwest where I work. This area has also been particularly hard hit by the opioid epidemic, and I have a breadth of expertise that is specifically helpful in that area as we continue to combat that epidemic.

It would be my pleasure to serve my colleagues in that area as a member of the board, and allow me to ensure that our area of the country is well represented on the national scene.
