In response to a dearth of physicians specialized in treating addiction, the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) sponsored a new training program in July 2011. The program, which is now available at ten academic medical centers around the country, seeks to attract more doctors to the field of addiction medicine.
This ABAM-sponsored program was recently highlighted in an article published by The Washington Post and was recognized as a much-needed response to the increasingly prevalent medical complications of addiction.
