Last month, US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released its guidance to the states on the essential health benefits, required of states per the Affordable Care Act. The essential health benefits package will determine the services that qualified health plans (includes plans in the individual and small group markets both inside and outside of the state Affordable Insurance Exchanges, Medicaid benchmark and benchmark-equivalent plans), are, at a minimum, required to provide under federal law.
