Membership is valid from the day you join until December 31 of the current year. Renewal notices will be sent in the fall for the following year's membership.

Medical Students and Residents:
ASAM offers a special, discounted national membership for medical students and residents. National Membership is FREE for medical students and $35 for residents. Membership is valid from the day you join until the end of the year. In addition to many of the benefits described above, students and residents can take advantage of the following additional benefits:
- Residents may apply for the Ruth Fox Scholarship, which pays for travel and registration costs for the Annual Medical-Scientific-Conference, including the Ruth Fox Course for Physicians. Scholarship recipients will also get to meet with ASAM Board Members and other leaders at the annual convention.
