This year ASAM presents two exciting pre-conference course and workshop options. This is an unprecedented opportunity to expand your learning with in-depth science-to-practice learning on the burning topics that face medical professionals in the addiction medicine field. 

Note: 

  1. A separate fee is required to attend either the ASAM Fundamentals of Addiction Medicine: A Live Workshop or the Pain & Addiction Common Threads Course. 
  2. Please register for only ONE of the pre-conference courses.
  3. Both courses will be held Thursday, April 14, 8:00 am - 5:30 pm at the ASAM headquarter hotel, Hilton Baltimore.

The ASAM Pain & Addiction Course

In the 17th year of The ASAM Pain and Addiction Common Threads Course, experts in the field will examine evidence-based methods of treating complex patients. The course reviews how to treat pain patients who are at risk for addiction and addiction patients with real pain problems. Course attendees will leave the course with new knowledge and a set of skills that can be immediately applied to their clinical practice.  

*Registrants receive complimentary access to the recorded sessions through the ASAM e-Learning Center following the conference.


The ASAM Fundamentals Workshop

The ASAM Fundamentals of Addiction Medicine is a practical, case-based workshop designed to support primary care physicians and clinicians in their clinical treatment of patients at risk for or with substance use disorders (SUDs). This live workshop is designed to be energetic and interactive. Sessions throughout the day will include approximately one-third of lecture, one-third demonstration of skills and one-third skills building. Attendees will work through session activities and cases with participants at their table, led by the session facilitators and faculty experts. Audience Response Devices (ARS) will also be used in the workshop throughout the day. 

*This highly interactive workshop will not be recorded and will not be available online through ASAM's e-Learning Center after the conference.
