Become Certified/Exam

In 2009, ASAM transferred the certification examination to the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM). The next examination will be November 15, 2014 and the last deadline to apply for the exam is July 15, 2014. See ABAM's website for details about exam deadlines, fees and other information.

A physician certified by ABAM is board certified. For more information about ABAM, certification in addiction medicine, and information about the exam, please visit their website at www.abam.net.
