Examination Requirements

• The Physician must pass a day-long written examination covering knowledge of the basic sciences as well as the clinical science of addiction and its subspecialties.

 Practice Requirements

• A valid license to practice medicine in the state, territory, commonwealth, or possession of the United States, or in a Province of Canada in which s/he practices: valid at the time of the application and at the time of the examination.
• Good standing in his/her medical community, as evidenced by at least one (1) letter of recommendation. Letters of recommendation must come from a physician who have known the applicant for at least two (2) years and is acquainted with the applicant's current professional status, medical practice, and involvement in the field of addiction medicine.
